He shall be like a tree (Ps. 1:3). Man is usually likened to changing grass, fading flowers, chaff (v. 4). But a tree is: 1. A Fixed Thing. Roots deep—“planted by rivers.” Trees do not plant themselves. God-planted—“trees of the Lord.” 2. A Growing Thing. “By the rivers of water.” Nutriment; best position. 3. A Living Thing.
